Martin Kaiser

Martin Kaiser studied Forestry (now Engineering in Forestry) at the University of Applied Sciences in 1985. To "be able to change something about the framework conditions for forests", he first joined Greenpeace Germany as a forest campaigner. As an international, non-partisan environmental organisation independent of politics and business, Greenpeace has been using direct, non-violent action to protect the life foundations and to create a world without armaments and armed conflict for 50 years. On 15 September 1971, a small group of activists set off in a converted fishing boat to the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska to prevent a nuclear test planned by the USA. This daring action gave rise to one of the largest environmental organisations in the world. Today, Greenpeace has more than 55 national offices and more than three million supporters worldwide.
