Career in Science & Research: Opportunities at HSWT
HSWT supports young scientists at all career stages. On these pages, interested parties will find information and offers on entering research, doctoral studies, the postdoc phase and the transition to professorship.
Research entry during studies
Preparing for an academic career already begins during your studies. Internships or employment as a research or student assistant can provide initial insights into the research and university environment. This offers the best opportunity to get a taste of a professional activity in science and research in order to be able to make a more informed decision for or against it.

Student or research assistant at the HSWT
Students without a degree but who are enrolled in a degree programme at the HSWT can be employed as student assistants.
Students with a first university degree are considered research assistants.
Student or research assistants get to know the research activities in certain subject areas better. In addition, such a job offers the advantage of being able to combine a student job with your studies in a good way (workplace = place of study). In addition to the practical experience, important initial contacts are made in a scientific context, which can be helpful for a Master's or doctorate.
It is also possible to send an initial enquiry or speculative application to professors in whose field you would like to work. It is helpful to make personal contact first.
