A service for students & employers
The Career Service at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences supports students during their studies and during the transition from university to work with career orientation and career entry. Students benefit from
-
Workshops, lectures and e-learning programmes
-
Career coaching, counselling and application checks
-
suitable job offers such as internships, part-time jobs and entry-level positions in our university job exchange.
We also connect companies and students as part of the Career Mentoring programme.
Good to know: Employers use the HSWT university job exchange as a direct line to qualified young talent. As registered job advertisers, companies can publish job vacancies here, set up a company profile, advertise their own recruiting events and come into direct contact with students at the internship days.
Who can contact the HSWT Career Service?
The Career Service's free services are open to students of all semesters and degree programmes across all campuses.
At the same time, the Career Service is the point of contact for companies and institutions looking for qualified personnel. With the help of our service, you can establish contacts with students at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences at an early stage, whether in the form of direct contact through mentoring and company contact fairs or through the publication of job vacancies on the university job exchange.
The Career Service International offers a wide range of services across all campuses, especially for international students of the HSWT, with a special focus on successful career entry in Germany.
Programme of events on key skills, job applications, career entry and careers
Every semester, we offer students an extensive range of workshops and lectures in German and English on the topics of job applications, career entry, careers and key skills, both online and in person.
Enrolled students can take part (register via our Moodle course "Career Service") as well as all HSWT alumni (please register by e-mail to career-service@hswt.de).
Application check, career coaching and counselling
These support services are available to students free of charge to ensure a smooth start to their careers.
-
Application check
Students can have their German and English application documents checked and receive personalised correction suggestions at the Career Service. Appointments can be made via the Career Service Moodle course.
At the same time, extensive information in German and English is available in our Moodle e-learning area and in our Career Service literature - also on starting a career in Germany for international students.
-
Individual career coaching and counselling
Individual questions on the topics of professional orientation, career entry and career can be clarified in a career coaching session. Possible questions include, for example
-
What professional goals do I have and how can I realise them?
-
What potential do I have and how do I want to utilise it professionally?
-
How do I impress in a job interview?
Students can make an appointment for counselling by emailing career-service@hswt.de.
-
-
Online test for career guidance
With the help of an online test, we support students in identifying their career-related interests and offer accompanying assistance with career orientation.
The test is analysed in a personal interview. Students can obtain more information about the online test from the Career Service. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to career-service@hswt.de.
Mentoring for students
The following mentoring programmes are open to students at HSWT to learn from students in higher semesters or from people from professional life.
-
Junior mentoring at the Triesdorf campus
Experienced students support and accompany first-year students at the Triesdorf campus. By interacting with students from higher semesters, first-semester students get to know the university more quickly, make initial contacts with their fellow students and receive answers and tips to their questions at a low-threshold level.
-
Career Mentoring
Career Mentoring is a programme in which experienced specialists and managers advise and support HSWT students from all locations in their professional orientation during their studies and in the career entry phase. The programme is offered across all campuses for all students from the 4th Bachelor's semester or 1st Master's semester.
You can find more information in the Career Service Moodle course.
E-learning: online programmes on soft skills, job applications & career entry
Webinars, sample documents, checklists, newsletters, magazines, podcasts and much more - our e-learning area in Moodle provides students with comprehensive information 24/7.
Addressing young professionals as a company: our service
The Career Service is the point of contact for companies and institutions wishing to establish contact with students at the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf at an early stage. How can companies get in touch with our students?
-
1. Publish a job advert
Companies and institutions register as job providers and publish their vacancies (entry-level positions, internships, part-time jobs during studies, working student jobs) on our university job exchange.
-
2. Present companies with their own profile
With a company profile in our university job exchange, companies become visible to qualified and interested students.
-
3. Advertise recruiting events
Companies advertise their own recruiting events on our university job exchange and thus attract committed and interested young talent from HSWT.
-
4. The practical days: in direct contact with students
Companies come into direct contact with students during the practical days. They offer young talent concrete insights into their day-to-day work and thus attract new staff.
-
5. Our career fairs
Every year, HSWT organises career fairs that companies and institutions can use to present themselves and make contact with potential young talent:
-
30 - 31 October 2023 Triesdorf Connect
-
Entrepreneur Day Agriculture
-
-
6. Support and advice - becoming a mentor in career mentoring
Getting involved as a specialist or manager - the mentors in our Career Mentoring programme support students with career orientation during their studies and career entry.
