Your area of responsibility:

We are looking for highly motivated candidates (m/f/d) for a scientific research position to develop novel machine learning and deep learning-based approaches in the application area of Agriculture and Sustainability. Applicants (m/f/d) after or shortly before completing their doctorate as well as applicants (m/f/d) with a doctoral degree are eligible for the position.

• You will develop novel machine learning and deep learning-based approaches to solve currently unsolved challenges in these application areas.
• Methodologically, your work will focus on approaches from Natural Language Processing, in particular Large Language Models.
• Among other things, you will use and further develop these methods for high-dimensional and complex biological sequence data, whereby prior biological knowledge is not required.
• You will write scientific publications and present your results at international conferences.
• You will have the opportunity to play a creative role in setting up a new research laboratory.
• If you wish to do a doctorate, this opportunity is expressly supported.

Your profile:

• Comprehensive expertise and experience in machine learning and deep learning
• Experience in Natural Language Processing and with Large Language Models is an advantage
• Good programming skills (preferably in Python) and experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch)
• Scientific curiosity, ability to work in a team and independent working style
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• German language skills are desirable

You have a successfully completed scientific university degree (Diploma [Univ.] or Master) in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics or a comparable degree programme.

Notes:

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date. Payment will be made in accordance with the provisions of collective bargaining law, up to pay group 13 TV-L if the personal and collective bargaining requirements are met. Taking into account the requirements of the job, the position is also suitable for part-time employment.
