In 1998, BayWa established the BayWa Foundation to mark its 75th anniversary. The foundation is involved in educational projects in the areas of healthy nutrition and renewable energies , both in Bavaria and around the world . The managing director is Maria Thon. The foundation has also supported 20 German scholarships at the HSWT for many years. "We want to support young people in discovering their talents and thus create common perspectives," says Thon. With the scholarships, the bright minds of tomorrow can concentrate fully on their studies. But the social commitment of the scholarship holders is also very important to her, because this flows back into society.

The BayWa Foundation has had a partnership with the HSWT for decades. With its focus on nutritional sciences and renewable energies, the green University of applied sciences is an excellent match for the Foundation's goals, says the managing director, who is also a member of the HSWT's university council.

At least once a year, the foundation invites its German scholarship holders to a large meeting of a total of one hundred scholarship holders in Munich. This networking is particularly important for their professional future, says Thon. The students can get to know companies through the foundation and find out about current trends in the agricultural sector. The foundation also organises seminars on rhetoric, project management and application training, and BayWa offers internships or student jobs for the scholarship holders. "We are happy to receive any application," emphasises the managing director.
